Quadra Capital Management had just spent a tidy sum on the
design of a logo featuring a signature letter “Q.” Expensive
signage had been ordered. Now they discovered they needed
a new name. It had to be short, memorable, have an exact
dot-com domain and, of course, begin with Q. With a
looming deadline and principals scattered around the world,
the name also needed to be created and approved almost
instantly without tedious and costly management meetings.
Quellos
The design firm that had
developed the logo called to see
if Beth could help. As these
seemingly impossible criteria
were described, Beth began to
smile. "I think I've got your
solution," she said quietly. Over
the years, Beth has created a list
of domain names that she owns
and can draw on for clients. She
remembered a name that
seemed particularly fitting.
Based on the word quelle, German for wellspring or
source and with roots in Sanskrit, the name Quellos was
an apt moniker for an investment company. Beth's name
had already recieved URL clearance and her trademark
research indicated it would be protectable. The new
name was adopted in exactly two meetings. And it didn't
just work; it was perfect.
